Shadow into Light
I could make out a thin line of a waterfall drawing its way to the deep green of the water. A gull skimmed the surface, its reflection chasing after it to a landing spot on a rock. I followed the brown track to the left of the lake, around boulders large and small. At one point I had to stretch my whole body underneath a giant rock to regain the trail. I followed the rocky shoreline until alpine green lay out before me like an undulating carpet. Here on the opposite side of the lake I looked out across from where I had come. A cloud wafted over the distant mountain and pirouetted down the valley. I had found a place of such spiritual ecstasy I could barely believe it.
