I waited and waited, in the cold and fog enshrouded landscape, for this moment yesterday morning. Walby Lake is a short walk from my house and is my usual destination in the morning. When I saw ducks emerging from behind the tall grass I had a feeling there would be a swan near by. I took a closer look and sure enough: two swans! I rushed back home to fetch my camera and then set up in the trees waiting till they had their fill. I Knew then that they would start preening and flapping their wings. All I had to do was wait and not freeze in the early morning fall chill that suddenly hit the valley.
